The original version uses the starting volumes. The adjusted version uses your current settings; the picture stays the same.

Music volume and fades

This demo uses separate, pre-made voice and music tracks. It does not separate audio from your own video.

Balance the body, then shape the opening and ending

Set the background music level while listening to the middle of the narration. Then choose fade-in and fade-out durations for the opening and ending. These are separate decisions: a smooth opening cannot compensate for music that is too prominent during the spoken content.

Use cases

Podcast opening

Introduce music gradually under the voice.

Video ending

Fade music instead of stopping it abruptly.

FAQ

Before you begin

Do fades control the music throughout the episode?+

Fades shape the ends of this ten-second sample. The music slider sets the baseline through the middle. For speech-triggered changes, compare the automatic-balance page.

Does this automatically meet platform loudness requirements?+

No. These controls balance tracks; they do not certify a platform loudness target.

What do fade-in and fade-out change?+

They shape the beginning and end of the music layer. The narration remains unchanged, so the podcast opening can stay intelligible.

Does fading replace automatic ducking?+

No. Fades follow the start and end of the clip. Ducking follows speech activity; use the related automatic-balance page to compare that behaviour.
